T H E  S T O R Y

Exposed to various types of music at an early age, silverfilter has dedicated himself to music-making. Since his early years, he has been singing as a child and got into piano in his preschool years. He moved on to playing the guitar, bass, and drums at 12. Since then, up til the present, he has been involved in playing in various rock bands either singing, playing the guitar, bass, or drumming.

In 1998, he got into electronica after hearing the likes of the Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy, forming a short-lived two-piece band named Bermuda where he handled programming with an old Yamaha synthesizer borrowed from his cousin and an old Casio keyboard that served as his drum machine as his partner handled the guitars. This lit his curiosity to the genre.

After Bermuda, in 1999, he was introduced to music softwares and everything started from there. Eventhough he started to get into composing electronic music, the catalyst for a deeper understanding into electronic music programming and composition came when he took a rest from playing with bands, enabling him to focus more on his own music. It was "liberating" for him to come to a place and create a whole music composition in just one sitting.

Fast forward to present. silverfilter has deepened his passion for electronic music. Armed with a couple of new gear to feed the need to make music along with records to inspire him, silverfilter's drive is fresh and powerful as can be. He has since then formed a collective known as Electronica Manila, gathering all Filipino electronic artists in the Philippines and around the world to get together and promote electronic music to the masses and realize the vision in educating the Filipino people about the artform. Meanwhile, he is currently busy with his solo project as silverfilter, his band, and his releases this coming year.

There's more ahead of silverfilter and what a future it will definitely be.
